EDF Renewable Development Inc. has proposed the addition of 20 MW of battery storage generation with 0 percent (0 MW) capacity to the Thirty First Street 115 kV substation, said a PJM Interconnection study on the project dated October 2016.

This energy storage project is located in central Pennsylvania and will interconnect with Pennsylvania Electric (Penelec) at the existing Thirty First Street station. An Interim Deliverability Study will need to be performed by PJM since the Facilities Study Commercial Operation Date is Dec. 1, 2017, and the original study year was 2018.

That commercial operation target date from EDF of Dec. 1, 2017, might not match with Penelec's schedule, the study noted.

This is called the Chestnut Flats Battery Storage project. This project is in PJM queue position #AA1-115, with this study a mid-point in the PJM queue process.
