FPL Energy Wyman and FPL Energy Wyman IV on Sept. 20 filed with FERC a common facilities agreement that covers a battery energy storage facility being developed by FPL Energy Wyman to access and utilize certain existing interconnection facilities owned, operated, and maintained by these power plant owners.

The storage project would participate in markets operated by ISO New England.

FPL Energy Wyman owns and operates Units 1, 2 and 3 of an existing fossil facility located in Yarmouth, Maine, with an aggregate nameplate capacity of 223 MW (called the “Wyman Station”). Wyman IV is the majority owner and operator of the fossil plant also located on the same property with a nameplate capacity of 614.5 MW, known as William F. Wyman Unit No. 4 (the “Wyman IV Station). These stations interconnect with the transmission system owned by Central Maine Power and operated by the ISO-NE.

FPL Energy Wyman, controlled by NextEra Energy, is developing a battery energy storage facility with a nameplate capacity of 16.2 MW on the same property as the existing facility. The target in-service date for the storage project is Nov. 30, 2016, while the expected commercial operation date is Dec. 15, 2016.

The interconnection sharing agreement does not provide for any transfer of ownership or control over the common facilities. At all times, these common facilities will be owned, operated and maintained by the existing two power plant owners.
