The second wind turbine worker to be hospitalized at a Pratt County, Kansas wind farm in a four-day span was struck in the head by a falling bolt.

The county sheriff told KAKE News that this new accident happened about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. A worker was in a wind power tower about 100 feet above ground level when a four-pound bolt fell from 100 feet above him, knocking him unconscious.

The worker, 26-year-old Gary Newman of California, is an employee of Blatner Energy, according to the report. The two other workers who were with Newman at the time were able to bring him to ground level, where he soon regained consciousness.

The worker was eventually taken to a hospital in Wichita for the treatment of his severe head wound after a stint in a local hospital.

Also in Pratt County, Kansas, as previously reported, a worker doing repairs Sunday morning on a wind turbine blade fell 120 feet onto muddy terrain and survived the fall.

Another worker was found hanging from his safety harness 120 feet in the air and eventually was lowered to safety in a construction basket.

General Electric says it is investigating the accident.

The workers' names were not released.
