Omnetric Group will supply cloud-based analytics solution to Kansas City Board of Public Utilities. The solution is based on Siemens EnergyIP and will enable the U.S. municipal utility to more efficiently manage water and electricity consumption in the city.
Omnetric Group’s cloud analytics offering will provide KCBPU, for the first time, with immediate and detailed information on the consumption patterns of its 65,000 electric and 51,000 water customers.
Once the solution is deployed and in-use by summer 2016, KCBPU will receive daily reports prepared by Omnetric Group’s team of data experts. These reports will include data insights such as identifying the city’s biggest users, the location of water leaks and of failing meters, all of which will enable KCBPU to resolve issues more effectively and efficiently.
Vasan Krishnaswamy, Head of Energy Insight, Omnetric Group said, “Kansas City Board of Public Utilities approached us to understand how much water and electricity is being consumed across the city in order to meet the evolving needs of its customers. This solution is a prime example of how Omnetric Group works to generate value for its customers using industry-leading data intelligence to improve their grid and business performance.”
Critically for the small utility, the cloud-based solution will also reduce the financial investment needed in IT infrastructure and operations personnel at KCBPU.
“The ability to receive accurate updates prepared by a team of experts without needing to dedicate internal man hours helps us to create operational efficiencies and offer improved customer service. The cloud-based solution enables us to use our resources more effectively and, in the long run, will raise the standard of our operations and our value to the customer,” said Paul Pauesick, Director of Information Technology, Kansas City Board of Public Utilities.
