Great Plains Energy and Kansas City Power & Light Co. accepted the resignation of Jim Shay, senior vice president — finance and chief financial officer. His resignation is effective September 2, 2015.

Shay will be assuming the position of chief financial officer for Hallmark Cards, Inc. Shay joined Great Plains Energy and KCP&L in July 2010.

“We thank Jim for his finance leadership during a period of growth and change for KCP&L,” said Terry Bassham, chairman and chief executive officer of Great Plains Energy. “We wish him the best in his new endeavors.”

The companies also announced today the promotion of Kevin Bryant to senior vice president—finance & strategy and chief financial officer of Great Plains Energy and KCP&L.

“We are excited to have Kevin move into this new role for our companies,” said Bassham. “Much of the financial and strategic knowledge and experience that Kevin has gained throughout his career, is essential for our business as we look to execute on our corporate strategy and position ourselves in a changing regulatory and operational environment.”

Bryant joined KCP&L in 2003 and has held several positions that have drawn on his strategic insight and finance and marketing experience. Most recently, Bryant served as vice president of strategic planning, where he focused on developing and executing the company's corporate strategy and managing the company’s risk.

In addition, as president of KLT, a unit of Great Plains Energy, Bryant led the companies’ efforts to evaluate and pursue business opportunities that are complementary to the core business of the utility.

Prior to these roles, Bryant served as vice president of investor relations and treasurer for Great Plains Energy, where he led the company's finance, treasury, investor relations, corporate strategy and risk management areas.

Bryant is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, with dual degrees in finance and real estate.
