Leidos wins contract for Wisconsin energy efficiency program

Leidos Engineering has won a four-year contract with the Wisconsin Focus on Energy program to continue implementing the Large Energy Users Program. Leidos Engineering has worked with Focus on Energy since 2001, and will continue to support Chicago Bridge and Iron Co., the program administrator.

Since 2001, Leidos Engineering has worked with the Wisconsin Focus on Energy program to help save more than 1,452 GWh of electricity — enough to power 130,000 homes for one year. In addition to the electric savings, nearly 110 million therms of natural gas — enough to heat about 140,000 Wisconsin homes for one year — were saved over the same time span.

The contract includes Leidos running a Strategic Energy Management program aimed at large-use industrial customers. With more than 30 percent of Wisconsin’s energy consumption coming from industrial energy users, the SEM program will enlist select industrial customers for benchmarking, training and peer-to-peer group learning sessions to drive a continual energy management improvement approach.

The program will use U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) training modules that help large-use customers achieve Superior Energy Performance certification with the DOE. By setting energy savings goals, the SEP certification is a step beyond ISO 50001 — putting energy management systems in place.
