PPL Susquehanna Unit 2 reconnected to power grid

Operators at PPL's Susquehanna nuclear power plant reconnected the Unit 2 reactor to the electrical grid March 25 after repairing a valve on a non-safety-related water supply pump.

Operators shut the unit down early March 20 to establish the working conditions needed to perform the required maintenance on this valve.

Unit 1 continues to operate at full power.

The Susquehanna nuclear plant, located in Luzerne County about seven miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PPL Susquehanna LLC and Allegheny Electric Cooperative Inc. and is operated by PPL Susquehanna.

PPL Susquehanna LLC is one of PPL Corp.'s power generation affiliates. The PPL family of companies delivers electricity and natural gas to about 10 million customers in the U.S. and the U.K., owns more than 18,000 MW of generating capacity in the U.S. and sells energy in key U.S. markets.
