Vikki L. Pryor to join NYISO board

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) announced on Dec. 18 the unanimous selection of Vikki L. Pryor to its board of directors, effective January 2014.

Ms. Pryor’s selection is the result of the NYISO’s stakeholder process in which representatives from each market sector, engaged in the shared governance of the NYISO, conducted a nationwide search and recommended potential directors to the board.

“Vikki Pryor has an extensive and diverse background in business and law. Her leadership experience in the corporate world and the not-for-profit sector will bring much valued perspective to the work of the NYISO board of directors,” said Bob Hiney, chairman of the board.

Ms. Pryor is principal and founder of Change Create Transform, a thought leadership company that helps mission-driven organizations achieve exceptional results. She has served as chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Greater New York, president and chief executive officer of SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co., Inc. and senior vice president of Operations at Oxford Health Plans in Connecticut.

Prior to her business career, she was a trial attorney with the Office of the Chief Counsel for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in Chicago.

The vacancy on the board was created by the departure of Anastasia Song, who had served on the NYISO board of directors since April 2012.

The NYISO board is a diverse body comprised of members with backgrounds in the electric power industry, finance, academics, technology, communications and the law. The board is required by the NYISO's federally approved tariffs to be independent and unaffiliated with any participant in the NYISO markets.
