PECO invests $7 million in transmission project

As part of PECO’s efforts to provide safe and reliable electric service, the company recently completed a $7 million substation improvement project in Delaware County.

The project included the installation of a 138 kV capacitor bank and related equipment to reinforce the local electric transmission system. Project work began earlier this year and was completed at the end of November.

PECO’s electric transmission system provides high voltage electricity to electric distribution substations throughout the region. Electric distribution substations convert high voltage electricity from transmission lines into lower voltages for delivery to homes and businesses.

PECO invests hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure improvement projects on an annual basis to ensure continued electric service reliability for customers throughout the service territory.

Based in Philadelphia, PECO is an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation (EXC). PECO serves 1.6 million electric and 497,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania.
