Mecasolar sells solar trackers to 1,028 MW solar power plant in Jordan

Mecasolar signed a contract under which it will supply fixed structures to be installed in a photovoltaic solar park in Jordan. The new 1,028 MWp solar power park will be installed in Ma’an, southern Jordan, 135 miles from Amman, Jordan's capital. The installation will be connected to the grid in the early months of next year.

Mecasolar, a multinational firm specializing in the design and manufacture of solar trackers, fixed structures for ground- and roof-mounted installations, and foundation screws for photovoltaic solar farms, is to start delivering the fixed structures for the Jordan park by the end of 2013.

The recently signed contract adds to previous deals reached in nearby countries like Egypt, where Mecasolar has delivered 103.04 kW single-axis azimuth trackers to a solar project in El Cairo.

The new project in Jordan will contain Mecasolar's two-post system with a hot-dip galvanized steel structure, three modules in portrait layout and fast assembly. The fixed structure model to be installed in Ma’an features 255Wp modules and SMA Tripower 17000TL inverters.

Given the characteristics of the ground, the developers chose a special anchoring system consisting of 1.5m-long concrete micropiles thrust into the ground.
