JCP&L substation in Tewksbury improves electric service

Jersey Central Power & Light's (JCP&L) new $7.3 million substation in Tewksbury is in service, providing greater redundancy to the local electric system and improved service reliability to customers.

The substation converts high voltage from transmission lines to lower voltages that are used to serve businesses and residents in the Tewksbury area.

The new substation automatically switches customers to another circuit when an outage occurs, restoring service sooner. While customers in Tewksbury primarily benefit from this project, the new facility helps support customers in portions of Hunterdon, Morris and Somerset counties as well.

Since 2001, JCP&L has invested more than $2 billion in capital improvements to its distribution system.
