Survalent installs SCADA for Rio Grande Electric Cooperative

Survalent Technology commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Rio Grande Electric Cooperative, Texas.

Rio Grande Electric Cooperative (RGEC) has the largest service territory of any electric cooperative in the contiguous U.S., serving 18 counties in Texas and 2 counties in New Mexico, which covers about 35,000 square miles.

These counties include: Brewster, Crockett, Culberson, Dimmit, Edwards, El Paso, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Kinney, Maverick, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Terrell, Uvalde, Val Verde, Webb and Zavala in Texas, and Eddy and Otero Counties in New Mexico. RGEC currently serves 6,134 members with 12,831 meters.

The new system features Survalent’s system, which is based on Windows Server. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: WorldView, SCADA Explorer, IED Wizard and Control Panel, SCADA Add-In, Remote Alarm Annunciation, External Clock Interface (GPS) and Event Data Recording.
