On-Ramp Wireless, developer of wireless solutions for energy automation and M2M communications, today announced that Scott Hughes, an experienced finance and business planning executive with experience in both startup and Fortune 500 environments, has joined the company as vice president of finance.

In his role, Hughes will oversee On-Ramp’s financial, investor relations and human resources functions. Hughes brings over 23 years of experience to the company, with a strong knowledge of the enterprise hardware networking segment and semiconductor design lifecycle. He also brings deep experience in international markets, specifically Asia, which is a focus area for company growth.

“On-Ramp recently raised a total of $31 million in our Series C funding round to enable us to connect the Internet of Things. As we continue to commercialize our utility and oil & gas solutions and aggressively expand into new markets, Scott’s vast expertise in finance and business planning will be of great value to us,” said Kevin Hell, president and CEO, On-Ramp Wireless.

Hughes has held numerous executive roles throughout his career. He joins On-Ramp from RealEC Corp. where he was senior vice president of operations. Prior to that Hughes was chief financial officer for Solarflare, a designer of high speed networking equipment.
