InStep to provide power plant monitoring software to AEP

American Electric Power (AEP) is using InStep’s Prism predictive asset analytics software.

The software is expected to help AEP improve the monitoring of the real-time health and performance of its critical power plant equipment. It uses advanced pattern recognition technology to detect when equipment is performing poorly or likely to fail.

AEP has about 80 power plants and a generating capacity of nearly 38,000 MW in 11 states, according to Power Engineering.
