TransCanada invests in solar energy projects

TransCanada Corp. completed the acquisition of the first of nine solar power plants in Ontario from Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., a unit of Canadian Solar. The total capacity of the projects is 86 MW and the portfolio will cost $446.6 million.

The remaining eight projects are expected to come into service by the end of 2014. The Ontario Power Authority is buying the output under a series of 20-year power purchase agreements, according to Power Engineering.
