Alstom to supply Philippines coal plant with generator, turbine

Alstom signed a contract to deliver equipment for the 135 MW Concepcion Circulating Fluidized Bed Power Plant, which will be constructed by the NLSC consortium in the Philippines.

The CFB power plant will be constructed for Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC). The contract, booked during the first quarter of 2013, is valued at nearly $20 million and aims to be completed by the end of 2015.

Alstom will deliver one 135 MW steam turbine, generator set and auxiliaries, including the water cooled condenser for a coal-fired power plant.

The power plant will generate power for the Visayas Grid, in response to the growing Philippine energy demands. Currently the Visayas Grid has a capacity of 1,700 MW, which represents 12 percent of the country’s power demand; and supports interconnected grids in Cebu, Negros, Panay, Leyte, Samar and Bohol.
