United Arab Emirates building its second nuclear power plant

Construction has started in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on the UAE's second nuclear power plant. The Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) is leading the group of developers for this project.

The first nuclear reactor in the UAE, which was built at the Barakah site, began construction in 2012. Construction at Barakah No. 2 began June 4, and construction of the remaining two units will begin in the next few years.

The target start-up dates are slated for between 2017 and 2020.
