Smart energy networking group Silver Spring Networks will provide technology for a distribution automation project to be conducted by the Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD). The PUD serves more than 320,000 electricity and 20,000 water customers in northwestern Washington State.
The project will make use of Silver Spring’s standards-based IPv6 networking platform and distribution automation solution. The Snohomish PUD program is designed to improve the reliability, efficiency and resiliency of its electric power distribution grid.
Silver Spring has recently introduced a ready-to-deploy municipal and cooperative smart grid solution to speed evaluation, reduce risk, lower costs and empower municipal and cooperative utilities’ consumers. The solution enables municipal and cooperative utilities to roll out a range of smart grid solutions such as sophisticated advanced metering infrastructure for electricity, water and natural gas customers, demand response, distribution automation and other critical infrastructure applications over time.
Silver Spring is working with municipal and cooperative utilities such as CPS Energy, Modesto Irrigation District, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Snohomish County Public Utility District and others to unlock smart grid benefits for their consumers.
