Silver Spring Networks extends smart grid partnership to 195,000 consumers

Smart energy networking firm Silver Spring Networks Inc. will extend its smart grid partnership with Dominion Virginia Power to support the installation of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) in the utility’s Virginia service territory.

The deployment leverages Silver Spring’s IPv6-based networking platform for advanced smart grid services to nearly 195,000 customers.

The Silver Spring Smart Energy Platform ensures system wide connectivity and interoperability, establishing a foundation for multiple smart grid solutions to be deployed atop a common IPv6 network.
