Quebec wind farm dedicated by EDF EN Canada, Enbridge

Enbridge Inc. and EDF EN Canada Inc. dedicated the 150 MW Massif du Sud Wind Project, located in Quebec.

The project cost around $340 million and is located in the municipalities of Saint-Luc-de-Bellechasse and Saint-Magloire in the MRC des Etchemins and in the municipalities of Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice-de-Buckland and Saint-Philémon in the MRC de Bellechasse, according to Power Engineering.

Massif du Sud consists of 75 wind turbines supplied by REpower, with a portion of the equipment procured from the designated region of Gaspésie-Bas-Saint-Laurent. It is one of the seven wind energy projects awarded to EDF EN Canada through a Hydro-Quebec call for tenders.

Construction began on the project in November 2011 and began commercial operation in January. The project is one of two Quebec wind power projects jointly owned by EDF EN Canada and Endbridge. In total, EDF EN Canada will develop slightly more than 1,000 MW of power capacity in the province over the next three years.

EDF EN Canada is a unit of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
