Nevada solar energy project canceled

ENN Mojave Energy canceled its plans to build a solar power project near Laughlin, Nevada after failing to find a buyer for the electricity that would have been produced there, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The company, which is a unit of ENN Group, has informed Clark County officials it is terminating its agreement to purchase 9,000 acres of land that would have been used for the project, the Associated Press reported.

The company was unable to sign necessary power purchase agreements to sell the energy to utilities in Nevada or neighboring states, according to Power Engineering.

According to the AP, ENN had planned to build a solar panel factory, followed by a solar power plant 90 miles south of Las Vegas. The facility would have generated enough solar energy for around 200,000 homes.
