ABB names new CEO

ABB Inc. has named Ulrich Spiesshofer as CEO of the company. He will succeed Joe Hogan, who announced he was leaving for personal reasons, but will continue on with ABB for some months as senior advisor to the board of directors.

Spiesshofer had been the head of ABB’s discrete automation and motion division since 2009, according to Power Engineering. He first joined the company in 2005. He has a master’s degree in business administration and engineering, and a PhD in economics, both from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
