Wisconsin program looks to build more energy efficient homes

Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities' statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, announced that its New Homes Program certified 1,625 new energy efficient homes in 2012.

Homes certified under Focus on Energy's New Homes Program use at least 10 percent less energy than homes built to the Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code. In 2012, the 1,625 new single-family homes certified in Wisconsin represented 28 percent of the total number of new single family homes built in the state. Since its launch in 2001, the New Homes Program has certified more than 18,150 new homes.

Focus on Energy is Wisconsin utilities' statewide energy efficiency and renewable resource program funded by the state's investor-owned energy utilities and participating municipal and electric cooperative utilities. Focus on Energy works with eligible Wisconsin residents and businesses to install cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

Focus on Energy information, resources and financial incentives help to implement projects that otherwise would not be completed. Its efforts help Wisconsin residents and businesses manage rising energy costs, promote in-state economic development, protect our environment and control Wisconsin's growing demand for electricity and natural gas.
