IUS Technologies tests distribution automation technology in AEP service territory

Vitzro Group subsidiary IUS Technologies released the initial U.S. test results of its smart series sensors. Late in 2011 IUS combined forces with American Electric Power (AEP) to assess the accuracy of its end-of-line smart sensors — the VS1000 and VS3000. AEP serves an 11-state area and over five million customers, providing IUS with a wide market sample.

The distribution automation technology of these sensors have been used in grid upgrades in South Korea. IUS plans to begin manufacturing immediately in their Alpharetta, Georgia, location.

IUS Technologies focuses on using reliable distribution automation, helping utilities bring the grid to an effective and reliable stature. With a 50-year plus history in South Korea, IUS sensors allow utilities to monitor and drop voltage levels across the grid, increasing capacity, and allowing electric utilities to sell off the excess power to other utilities, municipalities or co-ops at the market rate.

The net effect is creating a revenue stream for utilities and allowing capacity to meet the rising demand without costly infrastructure investments.

IUS Technologies will demonstrate the VS series at the 2013 DistribuTECH conference Jan. 29-31 at the San Diego Convention Center, in booth No. 1550.

IUS's technologies devices include smart grid sensors, distribution automation, oil degradation & load monitoring systems, power transformers and bushing current transformers.
