Siemens wins contract for 758 MW natural gas power plant in Texas

Erlangen, Germany, July 18, 2012 — Siemens won an order for the turnkey supply of the Panda Temple Power Project in Temple, Texas. The company will supply the natural-gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in consortium with its partner, Bechtel.

The purchaser is Panda Temple Power. The order volume including a long-term service agreement is about $300 million. The power station will be a Siemens Flex-Plant 30 with a gross installed electrical capacity of 758 MW.

This technology offers high efficiency and operational flexibility. This generating station will be able to supply the power needs of about 750,000 homes in the Central and North Texas regions when it comes on line in 2014.

The power station will be among the cleanest fossil-fueled plants in the U.S. with carbon monoxide emissions less than 10 parts-per-million, and nitrogen oxide emissions less than 2.0 ppm.

Siemens will deliver the power island equipment, including two gas turbines, one steam turbine, three generators and the instrumentation and control system. Bechtel will be responsible for the engineering and procurement for the balance of the plant and the installation, construction and commissioning of the facility.
