juwi Wind builds Community Wind South Wind Project in Minnesota

Boulder, Colo., July 12, 2012 — juwi Wind has commenced construction of the 30 MW Community Wind South wind farm in Nobles County, Minnesota. The project northwest of Worthington will feature the tallest turbines in the state.

juwi will construct and operate the project and members of the community will own a portion of it. The power will be sold to Xcel Energy under a long-term purchase agreement.

The first foundation has been poured for 15 REpower MM92, 2 MW turbines with a 100 meter hub-height that will be delivered over the summer and early fall. Signal Energy Constructors will construct the project, which will be completed in October, 2012.

Xcel Energy is a major U.S. electricity and natural gas company with regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. Xcel Energy provides a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity customers and 1.9 million natural gas customers through its regulated operating companies. Company headquarters are located in Minneapolis.

juwi Wind, LLC is based in Boulder, Colorado and is the North American unit of the juwi Group, a major international developer of wind, solar and other renewable energy projects. juwi has been designing, building and operating plants that harness renewable energy since 1996, and to date juwi has installed about 540 wind turbines worldwide at 106 sites, producing a total output of about 950 MW. The company is named for founders Fred Jung and Matthias Willenbacher and is based in Worrstadt, Germany.
