JCP&L transmission projects to enhance reliability

Morristown, N.J., June 15, 2012 — Jersey Central Power & Light will start work on 17 transmission construction projects over the next six months in its northern and central New Jersey service areas that are designed to improve service reliability for the company's 1.1 million customers.

The multi-year, $200 million Local Infrastructure and Transmission Enhancement program, which began in 2011, addresses the state's growing demand for electricity and provides key enhancements to the transmission system. To date, 24 projects already have been completed. All of the LITE projects are being designed and built specifically to serve only JCP&L customers.
