Schneider Electric supplies 5 MW solar park in Greece

Rueil-Malmaison, France, May 2, 2012 — French Schneider Electric supplied the electrical equipment for a 4.99-MW solar power plant in Greece, developed by Enel Green Power, the renewables arm of Italian utility Enel.

Schneider got the contract from the project's engineering, procurement and construction contractor Cantreva Ltd. As part of the deal, the French company provided all the needed equipment, including inverters, a grid-connection substation, transformers and array boxes. Schneider also supplied a monitoring system for the remote monitoring of electrical parameters.

The solar park is located in Kourtesi, in the southern region of Ilia. The facility is estimated to produce 7 GWh of electricity a year, or as much as is needed to power 1,700 local households. In addition, it is to save 7,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
