SDG&E wins award for emissions reduction, energy efficiency

San Diego, March 1, 2012 — San Diego Gas & Electric was nationally recognized with the Organizational Leadership Award at the inaugural Climate Leadership Awards in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

The Climate Leadership Awards recognize organizations that go beyond business as usual in the management and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and are presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Association of Climate Change Officers, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (formerly the Pew Center on Global Climate Change), and The Climate Registry.

The award was presented to SDG&E for exemplifying leadership in its internal response to climate change and effective outreach to engage its customers, community stakeholders, partners, and supply chain in high-impact energy efficiency and carbon-reduction initiatives.

SDG&E supports reducing greenhouse gases through its goals related to air quality and energy efficiency, natural resources, and other areas including waste reduction and recycling. The company continues to focus on achieving aggressive targets for renewable energy procurement, delivering innovative energy efficiency customer programs, and encouraging the use of alternate fueled vehicles, among other initiatives.
