B&W wins operations contract for Pennsylvania power plant

Charlotte, N.C., March 22, 2012 — The Babcock & Wilcox Co. unit Power Systems Operations, Inc. won a 10-year contract valued at more than $40 million to provide operations and maintenance services for Ebensburg Power Co.'s 50 MW power plant in Ebensburg, Pa.

Ebensburg Power Co. is a joint venture between units of B&W and ESI Energy, Inc. The co-generation plant burns waste coal from mining refuse piles to produce steam and electricity. Ebensburg Power Co. also conducts reclamation operations at these former mining sites, restoring the land to a condition suitable for plant and wildlife habitat.

Power Systems Operations has provided O&M services at the plant since it began commercial operation in May 1991.
