Areva changes leadership, consolidates North American businesses

Bethesda, Md., March 16, 2012 — As part of an ongoing effort to improve efficiency and operations through restructuring and consolidation of North American business entities, Areva NP Inc. and Areva NC Inc. will become integrated companies under Areva Inc.

As a result of this restructuring, Michael W. Rencheck will serve as the president and chief executive officer of Areva Inc. to replace Jacques Besnainou.

Rencheck joined Areva NP Inc. in January 2009. He successfully led the turnaround of Areva NP Inc., improving performance, achieving profitability and establishing sustainable growth, according to Areva.

Areva NP Inc. was the company's largest North American business unit with annual revenues of more than $1.3 billion. The consolidated company now has annual revenues of more than $2 billion. Rencheck will assume his new duties effective immediately.

Areva expresses gratitude to Besnainou, who has been with the company since 2001, for his many years of loyal service to the Areva family of companies and wishes him well in his future endeavors. During his years of service, Besnainou successfully implemented a multitude of major developments throughout the world on behalf of Areva.
