Solon to build 15 MW solar power plant for California utility

Tucson, Ariz., February 24, 2011 — Solon Corp., a provider of turnkey solar power plants and manufacturer of crystalline silicon solar modules, won a contract for the design and construction of a 15 MW solar power plant in California for Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

Construction of the plant will start in April 2011 and is scheduled for completion by October 2011.

The system will utilize Solon’s Velocity MW cluster concept with fixed tilt mounting and Solon’s SCADA system for remote control and monitoring. The power plant will be constructed in the vicinity of Fresno in central California.

The 15 MW project is part of PG&E’s 250 MW Utility Owned Generation PV Program, a five-year plan for the construction of utility owned solar power plants. Solon successfully constructed PG&E’s pilot project in late 2009.

This additional order enables Solon to further expand its position as a supplier of turnkey power plant solutions for major energy suppliers in the U.S.
