It comes off the back of another win for the company recently, when it was contracted to provide power for the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Australia’s Gold Coast.

The Olympics has been a fruitful relationship for the company having previously served London 2012 and Sochi’s winter Games in 2014. The company did pull out of a tender to provide power for the Rio Olympics last year.

Famous events like Glastonbury, the Ryder Cup, the Super bowl and the recent US presidential debates have all benefited from the company’s on-site power expertise.

In Korea it will provide power across 18 competition venues and the international broadcast centre in a contract worth in the region of £40m.

"I am delighted that Aggreko has been appointed the official power provider for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. We look forward to helping the organising committee deliver another successful games," said Chris Weston, chief executive officer of Aggreko.
