Aggreko to power the Ryder Cup

Aggreko is providing power generation and temperature control for the 2016 Ryder Cup, taking place from the 27th of September to 3rd of October at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

Aggreko will heat and cool, and generate power for a variety of temporary and permanent venues hosting 300,000 estimated tournament visitors, such as the 51,500 sq. ft. International Pavilion; 47,000 sq. ft. Ryder Cup merchandise shop; 24,200 sq. ft. media centre; a members’ tent that will accommodate Hazeltine National Golf Club Members; numerous PGA partner and vendor tents; and the event’s opening and closing ceremonies.

Gary Meador, head of event services, Aggreko North America said, “The Ryder Cup is the largest tournament the PGA manages in the U.S., and they rely on Aggreko to provide safe essential services to many of the event’s venues, big and small, without detracting from the beauty of the course’s natural environment."

The company’s major events division, Aggreko Event Services, will provide: 24 MW of power; more than 4,500 tonnes of engineered cooling solutions; a crew of 40-50 technicians, contractors and local engineers to manage the installation and operations; hundreds of accessories, including panels, transformers, and 400,254 ft. of cable, equating to 76 miles.

The company’s technical experts will monitor the installation via the proprietary Aggreko Remote Monitoring (ARM) – a real-time monitoring and diagnostic service - to ensure everything runs to peak efficiency.

Aggreko has a long history of providing mobile modular power to high-profile international sports events, such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Pan American/Parapan American Games, U.S. Open, Tour de France, and FIFA World Cup.
