Refinery CHP deal for Southern California

A cogeneration facility serving a large oil refinery in southern California, US is to be developed by a joint alliance Burns & McDonnell and ARB, Inc.

The natural gas-fired cogeneration facility will provide up to 33 MWe as well as process steam to augment the existing steam supply for refinery process units.

Under the terms of a deal, the two companies will provide comprehensive engineering design, as well as procurement and construction management services, including a GE LM2500 gas turbine.

Engineering design of the cogeneration plant is now underway and construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016 with commercial operation by the third quarter of 2017.
