On-site solar supply deal for Apple

US technology giant Apple Inc will power all of its Singapore operations with on-site renewables.

Under the terms of a deal with Singapore-based Sunseap Group, 33 MW of solar power will be supplied to Apple from a total of 50 MW of rooftop arrays installed on more than 800 buildings in Singapore.

The supply deal, beginning from January 2016, combines rooftop solar leasing of 1.1 MWp and up to 40 GWh worth of energy delivered via an off-site Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives, said: ‘This deal will cover all of our electricity needs in Singapore, including our 2500-person corporate campus and new retail store.’
