NY energy programme funding on-site fuel cell

The governor of New York state in the US, Andrew Cuomo, has announced some $175 million in funding for five large-scale clean energy projects.

Among the developments being backed under the state’s ‘Reforming the Energy Vision’ programme is a 790 kW fuel cell system that is to be installed at Morgan Stanley’s headquarters (pictured) in Manhattan, in New York City.

The projects aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the resiliency of New York’s electric grid and energy infrastructure while decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.

Announcing the funding, Cuomo said: ‘Through these projects, we are developing a world-class technology infrastructure while using the renewable energy necessary to reduce our carbon footprint and create a greener New York.’
