MHPS GT order for Turkmenistan chems firm

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has received an order for two natural gas-fired H-25 turbine and generator units set to be installed at a fertiliser production plant under construction in the city of Garabogaz, Turkmenistan.

The plant will be one of the largest urea fertiliser production plants in the country, with the two gas turbines serving as the core equipment of an in-house cogeneration system.

Turkmenhimiya, a state-owned chemical company in Turkmenistan, is building the facility, with the 50 MW power generation system scheduled to go on-stream in June 2018.

The fertiliser plant is currently being constructed in the northwest region of Turkmenistan, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), jointly with GAP Insaat Yatirim ve Dis Tiscaret AS, a Turkish construction company, and Mitsubishi Corporation.
