Cogen investment for Bulgarian paper mill

Bulgarian paper producer Svilosa AD is expected to invest some €30 million ($33 million) in a new cogeneration facility for its plant near the town of Svishtov.

Using biogas produced in the waste water treatment plant for the town, the cogen plant forms part of a €250 million investment programme. The facility will support plans to expand production capacity from 150,000 tpa to 200,000 tpa of bleached hardwood pulp.

The upgrade will also see a new substation installed at the paper mill (pictured) by the end of 2015, Krasimir Datchev, majority owner of Svilosa, reportedly told local journalists.
