Long Island rooftop solar comes up smelling of roses

Long Island, in New York state in the US, is the site of a recently completed 830 kW on-site solar PV system developed on behalf of the Perfume Center of America (PCA).

Some 2600 solar panels were installed on the roof of the PCA building (pictured) in Ronkonkoma by SUNation Solar Systems under a contract from Kulka Construction Corporation.

Anticipated cost savings from the $1.6 million project include a $66,000 rebate from utility supply company PSEG, a $454,200 federal tax credit and $476,153 Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) depreciation.

Completed in late June 2015, the building is expected to go online in August 2015 and the solar installation is expected to offset 95% of its electrical usage over time.
