Process heating and cooling for Italian trigen plant

E.ON Connecting Energies has commissioned a cogeneration unit for Italian industrial packaging company Goglio. The plant, consisting of a 4.4 MWe gas-fired combined heat and power plant and a 1.6 MW absorption chiller generates electricity, heat, and cooling for industrial processes at a Goglio facility in Daverio, in northern Italy.

It will enable Goglio to reduce its electricity costs by 30%, its energy costs by 20%, and its carbon emissions by 6300 metric tonnes annually.

Commenting on the development Robert Hienz, CEO of E.ON Connecting Energies, said: ‘Italy is among the core markets of our growing company. We have ambitious objectives and intend to expand our business there.’
