British Gas to trial heat pump boiler

British Gas and technology firm boostHEAT have signed a memorandum of understanding which includes a Heat Pump Boiler trial by British Gas later this year.

A fusion of boiler and heat pump, the boostHEAT Thermal Compressor is an air-water CO2 heat pump and achieves a very high efficiency, its developers claim.

British Gas, which has around15 million UK customers, typically installs 100,000 heating systems per annum.

French natural gas distribution company GrDF and CRIGEN (GDF SUEZ Centre for Research and Innovation in Gas and New Energy) will also begin field trials of boostHEAT Heat Pump Boilers in France later this year.

Luc Jacquet, boostHEAT Co-Founder and CEO, said:  “We are multiplying the number of actors in the energy sector we are working with, as we expand our reach.”
