Steam turbines for Thai process heat

Engineering group Alstom has been awarded a contract for the supply of 12 Geared Reaction steam Turbine (GRT) generator units of 35 MW to 45 MW capacity as well as condensers to combined heat and power plants owned by the Gulf MP Company Ltd in Thailand.

The contract was awarded within the framework of the third phase of Thailand’s Small Power Producer (SPP) scheme and will supply additional capacity to the grid as well as process steam to those industries located around the power plants.

Worth about €65 million, the order comes from Toyo Engineering Corporation. The first power plant is expected to be commissioned during 2016 and first commercial operation date in May 2017, with the rest to be operational by 2019.
