Veolia delivers CHP for New Cross hospital

Environmental services provider Veolia has been contracted to deliver a new 2 MW combined heat and power plant (CHP) to the 700-bed New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, UK (pictured). Installed by Veolia's packaged CHP team, Cogenco, it will be the hospital's first onsite CHP system, comprising of a 2 MWe CHP engine as well as 1183 kWe low temperature hot water (LTHW) and 1500 kg/hour steam units.

The gas-fired plant will cover approximately 40% of the hospital's entire heating and water requirements and 75% of its electrical demand and CO2 savings of over 3000 tonnes per year, its developers say.

In addition to the CHP installation, Veolia is contracted to operate and maintain the Hospital's CHP system for a period of 15 years.
