Jordanian prince backs on-site solar

Al Manal Palace, home to Prince Muhammad bin Talal, brother of King Hussein I of Jordan, is now also home to a 162 kW on-site solar PV project, the largest such installation in the country and the region.

Covering a south-facing hillside within the vast Amman estate, Germany’s Global Renewable Energy Systems LLC designed and installed the system, which features Realforce Power PV modules and KACO inverters.

Commenting, Zouhair Kefi, Managing Director of KACO new energy Dubai, said: ‘Precisely in a region where oil wealth did not bring good fortune, the PV array on the Al Manal Palace is serving as an example to show that a prosperous future can be attained just as well with renewable energy.’
