Solar curtain wall powering Spain’s GDR Guadalhorce HQ

A solar photovoltaic curtain wall has been installed at the new GDR Guadalhorce Valley’s new headquarters, located in the province of Malaga, Spain. Designed to become a centre for social, economic and environmental innovation, GDR Guadalhorce Valley will host different institutions and associations which will work actively towards the development, promotion and innovation of the valley.

Built on behalf of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the amorphous silicon photovoltaic (PV) glass installed at the building façade (pictured) is expected to generate more than 3 MWh per year.

Low-emissive glass improves both thermal and acoustic insulation, reducing energy expenses, the company says, while only allowing 20% light transmittance, allowing the entrance of natural light into the building.
