ESOS compliance explored

The mandatory Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) in the UK will introduce regular energy audits, highlighting energy savings for large organisations with the deadline for determining qualification for the ESOS scheme 31 December, 2014. For the first compliance period the deadline falls almost a year later on 5 December, 2015.

With estimates indicating that the proposal will deliver approximately £1.7 billion of net benefits to the UK, the overarching aim of the scheme is to help reduce EU energy consumption by 20% by 2020.

ESOS is to be explored at a seminar hosted by EIC and Utilitywise on 24 September in Birmingham, UK. Delegates will find out how ESOS audits, ISO 50001, Green Deal assessments and Display Energy Certificates can all play a part in compliance with the new regulations.

Tim Hipperson, Head of Supplier Relations and Regulations at Utilitywise, said: ‘ESOS presents a changing landscape for energy and utilities, that large organisations will have to understand, prepare for and comply with.’
