Austrian metals recycler in on-site solar move

RAGG GmbH, a metals recycling firm from Austria, has started operations of a newly installed solar photovoltaic system.

The roof-mounted installation has a rated capacity of 340 kW and is expected to produce some 330 MWh annually from its 1300 Q Cells solar modules (pictured).

Tyrol PV Elektrotechnik GmbH was responsible for the planning and construction of the system, which was installed in three weeks.

RAGG GmbH specializes in scrap vehicle recycling, scrap and cast preparation and trading in metal and feeds the PV system´s output into the grid.

Petra Mussmann, Managing Director at the recycluing firm, outlined the benefits of the installation, saying: ‘On the one hand we get a guaranteed tariff for electricity fed in for 13 years. On the other hand we contribute to climate protection as solar electricity doesn’t generate carbon dioxide.’
