New portable food digester for on-site power

North American firm Impact Bioenergy has expanded the capacity of its model 185 digester design which enables operators to generate energy on-site from food waste and paper products.

The company’s larger unit (pictured) has five times the capacity (2500kg/day) and uses anaerobic digestion to generate biogas. The AD185-2 (555,000 BTU/hr output) fits well in an urban setting, its developers say. The skid-mounted system is pre-fabricated and can be installed in a single day.

It is a completely portable bioenergy plant that can be configured for electrical output or biogas supply to an existing furnace or boiler. Electrical output starts at 11.7 kW, with peak output at 35.1 kW.
