Andritz biomass boiler picked for Stockholm CHP plant

Fortum Varme’s new Vartaverket biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Stockholm will run on an Andritz Energy & Environment PowerFluid fluidized bed boiler.

Along with the boiler, with a useful heat output of 330 MW, Andritz will supply a flue gas cleaning plant as well as electrical and control systems for the CHP plant.

Vartaverket power station supplies a district heating system in Stockholm. The new boiler, due online in the third quarter of 2015, will raise the plants reliance on renewables from 45% up to 70%.

Fortum Varne aims to supply all Stockholm with climate-neutral heat by 2030.
